I think I’ve been waiting all year to hear this. You can use Zoom on Apple TV 4K, 2nd generation or later. yesterday, AppleInsider discovered Sigmund Judge’s post about the “Zoom – for Home TV” app that has quietly appeared in the tvOS App Store.
Earlier this year, Apple’s tvOS 17 update enabled Continuity Camera on Apple TV, allowing anyone with a 2nd generation or later version of a streaming box to use their iPhone or iPad as a webcam for FaceTime on their TV. It can now be used as On iPhone, you can do the same with meetings on macOS.
Using Zoom’s new app is very easy. Logging in is very similar to signing in to most third-party video streaming apps. Visit the pairing URL on your phone and enter the code displayed on your TV, or manually enter your credentials on the screen.
After you log in, connecting your phone is the same as FaceTime on Apple TV. Zoom will ask you to connect to your phone. When you share your Apple TV with multiple people, you’ll see a list of accounts on nearby devices and receive a notification on your phone when you select one. Accept the connection and you’re off to the races. . Or maybe a meeting.
The screenshot above shows what the screen looks like after logging in. I didn’t have his second phone or camera handy, so his Continuity Camera doesn’t send a video feed when I’m taking photos. But if that were the case, I would see a live image of my face in the image instead of a blurry snapshot of what the camera last saw before I opened the iPhone’s camera app to take the TV photo. It will be. Probably that’s for the best.
According to the Zoom App Store listing, the Apple TV app has some features from other versions of the app, including the ability to start or join meetings, invite people to meetings, and view chat during meetings. It is installed. Although there are similarly titled app pages for Android OS and Sky TV, Zoom does not yet appear to have an Apple TV app documented on its site. Still, it’s easy to use and great if you work from home and want to have a meeting on the couch without pointing your laptop camera at your chin, or if you want to use your office conference room TV with minimal setup. This is a function.
