Over the past few years, Google has done a lot to strengthen the Android ecosystem. Now, we’re adding another feature to this, allowing users with multiple devices to use the Play Store to remotely uninstall apps installed on other devices.
A user and tipster who goes by the name Assemble Debug has turned on a feature flag buried deep in the Google Play Store and explained in detail how the feature works. This feature is not yet available to general users and probably won’t be for some time.
The Play Store version they used was 38.8, and the feature does exactly what the name suggests. Let’s say he has two Android devices, one at home and one at home. You can go to the Play Store on your current device, select other devices from the drop-down menu, and uninstall the app remotely from there.
This is a very nifty feature that finally completes the Google Play Store’s remote app installation capabilities. Please note that both devices may need to be signed in with the same account and have an active internet connection to use this feature.
This feature also includes filters to sort apps according to name and size. It will probably come to all Android platforms soon, including Wear OS, TV, PC, and Android Auto.
To remotely uninstall an app on Android, you need to do the following:
1. Play Store -> Tap your profile -> Tap Manage apps and devices
2. Go to the Manage section and select your device from the dropdown.
3. The apps installed on the selected device will be listed.
4. Check all the apps you want to uninstall and tap the trash can icon in the top right corner.
5. Finally, tap “Uninstall”.
Be Bomb’s take
This may seem like a nice feature, and it is. I wish Google would add biometric authentication to uninstall apps. At this time, we don’t know exactly how this feature works under the hood. Going by the tipster’s explanation, if someone with malicious intent gets their hands on one of your devices or accidentally tries out its features, try uninstalling the app from the device you’re carrying around. There is a possibility that Needless to say, that would cause a confusing situation.
