YORK – York City Police on Friday arrested two Lincoln residents in connection with a shoplifting incident at a Walmart in York. They were also arrested on drug charges.
After officers responded to the shoplifting incident, they “recovered the stolen items and discovered a white powdery substance,” police said in a statement.
To determine the nature of the white powder, police used a “recently purchased” chemical laser material analyzer. Police say the analyzer can identify “dangerous drugs and their precursors.”
“Without the laser analysis device, officers would not have been aware of the interaction with fentanyl,” the department said.
“We commend city leaders for supporting our officers and providing them with the tools to keep them and our communities safe,” the department said in a press release.
