A sold-out gala held Saturday night at Pearl Wrentham Lake drew about 500 people and also raised $20,000 for local food pantries.
This was the sixth major event held by the 350th Anniversary Committee to celebrate the town’s founding in 1673, but it was the only event that required tickets.
Many attendees wore tuxedos or ball gowns.
The event featured a cocktail hour with appetizers, a short speaker program with volunteer, donor and committee recognition, and dinner and dancing.
Volunteers recognized included Stephanie Duquette, Town DPW Officer Ray Rose, Historical Commission member and Town Historian Greg Stahl, and Rich O’Leary Sr.
The event was hosted by Jerry and Juliana LoRusso, the couple who own and manage Pearl Lake. Music was by Guilty Pleasures, a long-time area dance band that performs throughout New England.
“They played until almost midnight and ended with ‘Living on a Prayer,'” said committee co-chairman Ed Goddard, referring to the Bon Jovi classic.
While all members of the Wrentham 350 committee worked on the event, Goddard gave special recognition to Kristen Andreozzi, who handled all logistics.
