Walmart shoppers slammed the popular grocery chain, claiming that store receipt checks are stupid.
They shared two reasons why they believe this measure is ineffective.
Receipt checks are standard at wholesalers like Costco, but some Walmart stores are implementing them, sparking outrage.
The checks have made some shoppers uncomfortable, feeling like they’re being singled out or accused of shoplifting.
One shopper revealed why he thinks the policy won’t work.
He noted that shoppers may be reluctant to hand over their cellphones if they don’t have the option of receiving a paper receipt at the machine.

“I’m not handing my phone over to anyone; the ‘text’ option for receiving is worthless,” says Eddie Stage (@_Xalthe_)X (formerly Twitter).
He claimed that the staff by the door told him to inspect all items that were not in bags.
“Bagged goods can also be stolen and can be even more expensive,” Eddy pointed out.
The shopper encouraged Walmart to hire more cashiers and reduce the number of self-checkouts, or else accept that downsizing will still be an issue.
Shrink refers to the experience of loss chains. It could be in the form of stolen or damaged goods.
Last year, self-checkout stations were removed from three Walmart stores in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Eddie isn’t the only shopper furious about receipt checks.
Some people blatantly refuse to comply with the test and walk past store staff.
However, some people are sharing how they responded to the request.
“I refuse to show it because I didn’t do anything wrong and I don’t feel like I have to prove my innocence,” a shopper known as Nancy told NBC affiliate KGW News. Ta.
Walmart shopper Kenya E (@thekingkenya) revealed on TikTok that she walks around greeting people at the door. Next Time for her to get her receipt checked.
“I hate the way the receptionists at Walmart check my receipts so carefully,” she rants on the platform.
Some viewers claimed they were in such a hurry that they didn’t have time to stop and show them their receipts.
“I usually just walk by if there’s a line. I’m like… no, thank you,” said the TikToker, known only as Shakira.
“I walk straight out,” Francis Coleman agreed.
Kenya’s outrage over the check confused some shoppers, who insisted they should buy their groceries elsewhere.
The law is unclear regarding whether shoppers must comply with receipt checks at non-participating stores.
Prominent lawyer George LaMarche thinks shoppers should follow suit.
Steve Lehto then asked shoppers whether receipt checks were an issue worth fighting over.
Lawyers explained that Sam’s Club and Costco members have little room for action, as shoppers who don’t present a receipt risk being banned.
