Hey, guys!
As a matter of fact, the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is in full swing.
As I previously mentioned on WM?, I would like to share with the segment that our zoo is participating in a global conservation project and educational research on migratory patterns. The same goes for the effects of environmental change and the impact humans have on it. Well, today I would like to meet and introduce Dr. Kate Evans. Dr. Evans started with African elephants.
After meeting with representatives from the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore at a conference, the two groups collaborated to study elephants in Botswana. Botswana is about the size of Texas and is home to several thousand elephants. Elephants are changing their migration and social patterns.
Elephants are currently invading some populated areas. The Maryland Zoo has staff on hand, and in conjunction with EFA, he tagged 12 elephants with satellite collars. And I’m going to “tag” it further to understand why this is happening now. There’s a lot more to the story, but at least today we were able to join Dr. Hunt in Baltimore to give you a really cool behind-the-scenes look at the zoo that you probably didn’t know about.
Special thanks to Zoo PR guru Mike Evitts, pictured, and myself, K2, and Dr. Evans, for organizing this special meeting with all of us at WJZ at 9am this morning. Express your intentions.
