EDWARDSVILLE — For teenagers with ideas for making libraries a better place for young people, the Glen Carbon Centennial Library is planning just the right event.
Junior Friends of the Library will be held at the library, 198 S Main St., Glen Carbon, on Tuesdays at 6 p.m.

December 6 History of Christmas Carols: 6 p.m. at the Edwardsville Public Library, 112 S. Kansas St., Edwardsville. Join Karl She-Kint for a hilarious presentation about the history of the popular Christmas she-won carol that you are all too familiar with. The program includes a slideshow explaining the carols, the history of each, the author’s background and intended meaning.
December 6 Winter Concert and Art Show: The art show will be at 6 p.m., and the concert will be at 7 p.m. at the Edwardsville Main Street Community Center, 1003 N Main St, Edwardsville. A $5 donation is encouraged.
December 10 Senior Social Club Christmas Party: 11:30 a.m., Granite City Township Hall, 2060 Delmar Ave., Granite City. 1:30pm, It’s Magic! “America’s Premier Master Magician & Illusionist” starring Terry Ritchson! ” Tickets are on sale until December 3rd. $13 for members, $15 for non-members. Until December 30 Tree Glen Festival: The Glen Carbon Heritage Museum will be decorated with holiday lights, the holiday tree will be lit at special times, and visitors will be able to vote for their favorite tree. Prizes will be awarded. Admission to the museum is free, but donations are accepted. Hours of operation will be Saturdays from 5 to 8 p.m., beginning Nov. 25. The museum will not be open on December 24th and December 25th. Glen Carbon Heritage Museum, 124 School St., Glen Carbon.
Sale of used books: daily during normal library business hours: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday from 1pm to 5pm. Friends of Glen Carbon Centennial Library, 198 S. Main St, Glen Carbon.
Train show: The Metro East Model Railroad Club will hold open houses on Dec. 16 and Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The clubhouse is located at 180 Summit Street in Glen Carbon, in the old Glen Carbon Fire Station and Village Hall building. Admission is free and light refreshments will be provided.
Movie matinee: 12 p.m. Dec. 7 and 14 at the Edwardsville Public Library, 112 S. Kansas St., Edwardsville. If you bring a brown lunch bag, the library will provide drinks and popcorn.
