Walmart offers a variety of payment methods at all self-checkout kiosks in its more than 10,000 stores nationwide.
The retail giant allows customers to self-checkout using Walmart gift cards, most major debit and credit cards, EBT cards, cash, and Walmart Pay.
Is self-checkout available at all Walmart stores?
Walmart offers self-checkout at all stores.
However, the company is in the process of removing these self-checkout lanes and bringing back cashiers at some stores.
The remaining self-checkout kiosks will also be testing a variety of hands-on employee assistance.
What payment methods does Walmart accept at self-checkout?
Walmart accepts Visa and MasterCard, most major debit and credit cards, American Express, Discover/Novus, store gift cards, EBT cards, and cash at all self-checkout kiosks.
Frequent Walmart shoppers can also check out using Walmart Pay on their mobile phones. This is a feature of the official Walmart app that speeds up the checkout process when customers shop in-store.
This app securely stores your debit card, credit card, and Walmart gift card information. All you need is your PIN number to successfully process and approve your transaction.
Currently, Walmart does not accept Apple Pay or Google Pay, despite their popularity among consumers. However, a shopper can add payment card information to her Walmart Pay in the app and pay electronically.
Can I get cashback at Walmart self-checkout?
Shoppers can request cash back up to three times per day at all Walmart cashiers and self-checkout stations.
Depending on your payment method, you can typically choose to withdraw in increments of $20 between $20 and $100 per transaction.
Walmart acknowledged that while self-checkout policies may change across many stores, it has no plans to completely remove these machines in the future.
Walmart Press Director Joe Pennington confirmed the chain’s position in a statement to the US Sun.
Pennington said: “We are continually looking at ways to provide the best shopping experience for our customers, and that includes making adjustments to our store checkout areas.
“At this time, there are no plans to remove self-checkouts nationwide.”
