WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) – The City of Waynesboro is increasing the number of events downtown in an effort to attract more residents and visitors to the growing city.
Every weekend for the next three weeks, we’ll be doing something to bring people downtown.
The first event is Small Business Saturday, where you can play interactive BINGO games on November 25th from 11pm to 6pm.
“While you shop and dine, you can get a BINGO card from participating retailers to earn BINGO and then win prizes: gift cards from local businesses, merchandise from local businesses, and Waynesboro memorabilia. We have products for you,” said Megan Swanson, Marketing and Social Media Coordinator for the City of Waynesboro.
Swanson said this is a DORA event where customers can have a drink and stroll around.
And on December 2nd, the third annual Holiday Market will be held.
“We’ll probably have about 25 vendors there, not just hot chocolate, Santa and the Grinch. We’ll also have a window decoration contest with all the downtown businesses,” Swanson said.
This event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Finally, three traveling exhibits will be coming to Constitution Park on December 9th and 10th.
LL Bean unveils a bootmobile, and the Virginia Museum of Natural History plans to debut a mobile unit while it waits for permanent residence in Waynesboro.
The mobile unit will be there from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Cousins Maine Lobster food truck will stop by on Sundays.
“We have museums, we have art galleries, we have Wayne, we have great restaurants and boutiques, and it’s great to come here and spend two days instead of a day, or just 45 minutes walking around. It’s becoming a place where you can really walk around and be a ‘destination’,” Swanson said.
She said she hopes to have a complete list of next year’s events in downtown Waynesboro by Feb. 1.
