A Waukesha carjacking occurred in a Walmart store parking lot and an attempted carjacking at gunpoint near a bypass, according to police scanner audio obtained by Wisconsin Right Now and a post from the victim’s wife. An intense police pursuit ensued along Bluemound Road. A pump-action shotgun was used in the carjacking.
Scanner audio showed the suspects reaching speeds of at least 100 mph before their vehicle stalled in Blue Mound. The suspects also drove in the wrong direction on Moreland Road and ran a red light at another point. Scanner traffic initially indicated there were three suspects, but two were taken into custody and medical needs were denied. One of the original suspects fled. One officer said his unit was shot “head on” but did not require medical attention.
Regarding the second incident, the dispatcher said, “We received a call from Walmart about a stolen vehicle.” The color of the car matched the suspect vehicle in an earlier attempted carjacking near the bypass. The carjacking occurred in the Walmart parking lot on West Avenue in Waukesha. The suspects left in a rented white Acura.
“My husband was held at gunpoint by those idiots when they jacked his car at Walmart. I’m so grateful to the Waukesha Police Department for getting them off the street.” A woman wrote to X.

The first call was for an attempted carjacking on the bypass.
“Attempted carjacking, three people involved. One had a shotgun,” a police officer said on the scanner on November 19, 2023. “Maybe he was hit from behind at a red light?” said another police officer. “Almost,” the dispatcher said.
Officers said the attempted carjacking occurred “west of the bypass” and involved the suspect vehicle, a white Buick Enclave with no front plates. It was called an attempted carjacking or an armed carjacking.
Dispatchers said there were three suspects, “one white male, one Hispanic. The third was driving.” Police said the suspects forced people out of their cars and rolled them out of the windows. He said he tried to break the glass. Two of the suspects were Hispanic, police said. No further explanation has been released.
Audio from the scanner also recorded officers communicating during the pursuit.
“Traffic is very light. He’s in the first lane of Blue Mound,” the officer said. “Right now, a westbound Blue Mound is crossing the bridge. As we cross the bridge and approach the intersection, our speed is about 88. We’re still heading west. He’s slowed down to 50.”
They put out a stop stick, but the suspect vehicle initially missed the stop stick while traveling westbound on Blue Mound at 74 mph approaching Pewaukee Road. The suspect then continued southbound on Pewaukee at speeds of 130 mph.
“He’s veering into oncoming traffic. He’s almost lost control and is approaching Northview,” the trooper said.
Officers were blocking the suspect “to prevent him from leaving.” He is trying to go north, but he is currently stuck. ”
One police officer suffered a hand injury, according to the scanner report.
“He’s currently pointing his gun south,” the officer said. “Traffic restrictions will be required in Pewaukee. All traffic will need to be detoured.”
Waukesha Alerts, a site that monitors scanner traffic, tweeted, “Attempted carjacking near Bypass and successful carjacking at Walmart. Police gave chase and took two suspects into custody at Northview and Pewaukee. At least one officer was injured.”
