New Walmart centers are equipped with robots that allow humans to work more quickly alongside them, resulting in faster deliveries.
Walmart is testing some new technology and you can take a peek at its newest warehouse location.
The Katy, Texas-based warehouse showcases some of the industry’s latest technology, allowing humans to work alongside cutting-edge robots.
CBS affiliate KHOU 11 reports that these devices will be activated after receiving an online order.
The robot then picks up the items and delivers them to workstations within the store.
A human then checks the work and prepares the product for shipment.
“It’s kind of nice to know that no jobs were lost,” said Muayad Bahaj, a systems operator at Walmart Robotics.
“It creates more jobs, it helps establish a more efficient system for everyone, and it makes everyone’s life a lot easier in some ways.”
Walmart has invested in warehouses and fulfillment centers throughout the year.
This appears to be part of a plan to disrupt Amazon’s delivery service, which currently dominates shipping across the industry.
In May of this year, Walmart opened its largest facility to date in Indiana.
“Indiana is proud to welcome this next-generation Walmart fulfillment center, which represents a significant investment in our industry and our employees,” said Anne Lathrop, chief strategy officer for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. said.
“Walmart has been a great corporate partner in Indiana for many years, and we look forward to seeing their efforts expand in Hancock County.”
By building these high-tech warehouses, Walmart hopes to create more jobs and influence delivery services.
The company aims to improve Walmart.com’s order fulfillment capabilities with a two-day delivery option.
