As TikTok user and Walmart customer @shoppergodmother recently discovered, finding the right discount can have a downside.
In a recent video on TikTok, a user suggested that customers use the Walmart app when shopping in-store. The reason for this, she says, is something called “hidden clearance.” This is if the item is not marked as on sale in store, but if you check the price in the app you may find a great discount.
For example, this TikToker said he recently purchased a box of 108 Huggies diapers at a Walmart store. On the shelf it was listed as over $20 per box, but when I checked on the app, I found that in-store it was available for just $5.86 per box.
After checking out, the TikToker submitted her receipt to an app called Ibotta, which lowered the price even more.
This was a great deal, but it wasn’t as easy to get as I thought. The TikToker revealed in a later video that this low price led to a conflict with Walmart employees.
According to the TikToker, as she was leaving the store, one of the receipt examiners “put on glasses and questioned her.”[d] About how I got this. ”
On the way home, I heard a woman criticize herself or someone else for changing the price of diapers.
“Girl, ride somewhere,” the TikToker concluded. The TikToker added in the caption, “She swears I changed the price myself!!”

In the comments section, users shared their own stories of similar conflicts with Walmart employees.
“They did that to me when I found a pair of leggings for $1 at the self-checkout. And the lady said, show me what you scanned,” one commenter recalled. “I was like a barcode!”
“That’s literally what I did today when I found a cup on top secret clearance that was 5 cents a cup,” another added. “I bought 40 of them, but that’s not important.”
“That’s what they did to me when I found a $5 gray blanket,” said a third. “He scanned it with his handheld camera and thought, oh, okay.”
As a result of these issues, some people have chosen to reject receipt checks altogether.
“So show me your receipt,” the user said. “Please check the camera.”
The Daily Dot reached out to Walmart through its media relations contact form and @shoppergodmother through a TikTok direct message.
