Customers at Walmart in Louisiana may be in for a shock when they try to check out. Walmart is cracking down on certain customers. As of 2023, there are 138 Walmart stores in Louisiana (including Sam’s and other branches), according to WalmartNearby.com.
If you’re a coupon user, Coupons in the News reports that Walmart recently changed its policy after being in place for six years. The policy change took place on September 24, 2023.
What has changed regarding Walmart’s coupon policy?
1. Elimination of excess amount/new same coupon limit
The most notable change is the elimination of overage fees. Walmart was one of the dwindling number of retailers that honored the full value of coupons, regardless of the item’s actual price. So if your coupon is worth more than the product you used, you’ll either receive cashback or have the difference applied to your transaction.
No more. The new policy states, “If the value of the coupon is greater than the purchase price of the item, Walmart will not provide cash back and no overage fees will be applied to the remaining items in the transaction.” To make matters worse, there is also a new limit of 4 identical coupons per household per day.
2. Digital coupons
According to the report, digital coupons will no longer be accepted on customers’ mobile phones.
3. Expired coupons
New regulations will no longer allow the use of expired coupons
4. Coupon product matching
According to Walmart, items purchased using a coupon must match in size, brand, quantity, color, etc. or the coupon will not be accepted.
5. Combined use of multiple manufacturer coupons
Only one manufacturer coupon will be accepted per item.
6. Scannable coupons
To use a coupon, you must be able to scan it at the register. If a coupon cannot be scanned, you cannot manually disable a suspicious coupon.
