Terms such as duty, honor, and service are not just empty words to military society. In recognition of the sacrifices involved in that effort, upcoming Walmart Heroes and Headliners events are an opportunity to celebrate the men, women and families who put their country first.
In a turbulent world, the concept of military service may have taken on a different meaning. While the Greatest Generation and oldest communities may have been forced to serve, others have chosen to follow that path. Whether the decision is to follow family tradition or a desire to be part of an organization larger than an individual, the reality is that the military community understands the meaning of service and sacrifice.
Walmart has long supported the U.S. military. John Furner, president and CEO of Walmart US, said: “Walmart has a rich history of supporting our military, dating back to our first veteran, Sam Walton. Like him, America’s military community and their families continue to support the fabric of our freedom. We are forever grateful for their sacrifice and service.”
What is the Walmart Heroes and Headliners event?
The Walmart Heroes and Headliners event on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, is a special concert for military personnel. The concert, hosted by Rob Gronkowski and Camille Kostek, will feature performances by Chris Stapleton, HER and Imagine Dragons. The MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater in Tampa is sold out, but the concert will be livestreamed on his Walmart.com/Live, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
While many look forward to seeing their favorite performers take the stage, this event is much more than just a musical spectacle. This is another example of how the Walmart brand supports the military community. Based on his four pillars of the program: employment, education, entrepreneurship and welfare, the company not only invests in their future, but also finds ways to celebrate their sacrifices. Over the past 12 years, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have invested $44 million in support of military families and their communities.
Walmart is supporting local organizations at the Heroes and Headliners event in Tampa. The $250,000 donation includes support for the following organizations: New Beginnings for Veterans (Tampa, FL), Hope for the Warriors HOPE (Florida office), Fisher House (Tampa VA Hospital), and Fire. Watch Project Inc. (Jacksonville, FL), Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce Foundation (Tampa, FL).
Guests at the Walmart Heroes and Headliners event have a moment for everyone to honor veterans and their families as they sing and dance to the music of the headliners. Sacrifice is a choice and not something to be taken lightly. Whether it’s Veterans Day or any other day, a willingness to share a little gratitude for their choices is always appreciated.
