Walmart, the multinational retailer known for its low prices and wide range of products, is undergoing a major transformation.
Approximately 117 stores across the U.S. are being renovated and will be unveiled on Friday, November 3rd, dubbed the “second best day.” Here’s how his day unfolded for the company’s largest re-grand opening in its history.

What new changes will come to Walmart?
Walmart stores being renovated include:
- We have refreshed the interior and exterior, including new paint and flooring, modernized restrooms, new fixtures, LED lighting, and improved visibility throughout the store.
- New signage for easier navigation.
- More shopping carts.
- Manned lanes and self-checkout areas provide more checkout options.
- Expanded online grocery pickup and delivery area.
- A take-out section has also been added offering quick meal and drink options.
- Certain sales corners will have enhanced displays that allow customers to touch, feel and “become part of the space.”
- Some products will be displayed out of the box for customers to imagine in their lives.
- There’s more space to explore.
- Digital touchpoints using screens and QR codes can help communicate your products and services.
- The pharmacy has been moved to the front of the store and a dedicated examination room has been added for pharmacist consultation and services.
- The customer service area has been updated.

Which Walmart stores in Arizona have been renovated?
In Arizona, 13 Walmart stores are scheduled for renovations in 2023. Completed items include:
- 2675 W. Eighth St., Yuma.
- 3721 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix.
- 240 W. Baseline Road, Mesa.
- 34399 N. Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek.
- 18680 S. Nogales Highway, Sahuarita.
- 6145 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix.
- 1260 E. Tucson Marketplace Blvd., Tucson.
- 1710 S. Greenflyed Road, Mesa.
- 3460 W. Chandler Blvd., Chandler
- 4747 E. Cactus Road, Phoenix.
The Walmart store is located at 1695 N. Arizona Blvd. Coolidge’s store and his 7575 W. Lower Buckeye Road location in Phoenix will have a grand opening on Friday, Nov. 3.
The Walmart store at 5290 S. Power Road in Gilbert is scheduled for upgrades in December.
Mural will be painted at this Phoenix Walmart
The Phoenix Walmart Supercenter at 7575 W. Lower Buckeye Road will feature a mural designed and illustrated by Tony Plack and Menina. The mural will reflect Phoenix’s diversity and local culture as part of Walmart’s Community Mural Project.
