JUAREZ, Chihuahua – Supermarket chain Walmart has expanded its presence in Chihuahua with the opening of its 43rd branch in the state in Juarez.
Walmart has 43 branches in Chihuahua and employs 4,500 people directly and 3,600 people indirectly.
City President Cruz Pérez Cuellar attended the inauguration of the new Walmart branch in Juarez, located at the intersection of Francisco Villarreal Torres Boulevard and Teofilo Borunda Boulevard.
The new branch has a sales floor area of 15,000 square meters and offers a wide range of products and services including food, clothing, footwear, electronics, toys and more.
The opening of this new branch will involve an investment of USD 5.7 million and create 500 direct and 300 indirect jobs.
During the event, the city president emphasized the importance of private investment for the city’s economic development.
“The opening of this new branch is a sign of the confidence that our investors have in Ciudad Juárez,” said the mayor. “This motivates us to continue working to create a favorable environment for investment and economic growth.”
Maria Huerta, Walmart Operations Director, thanked the municipality for its support in launching this new branch.
“We are fully committed to the growth of Juarez,” Huerta said. “This new branch is a demonstration of our commitment to the community.”
