The move marks the end of an open enrollment period on Nov. 1 on Healthcare.gov, the federal government’s insurance marketplace designed to provide affordable health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). It is a continuation of what was started. The ACA enrollment period ends on January 15th.
In the second agreement, Walmart will partner with Orlando Health, a nonprofit network of community and specialty hospitals, to provide care coordination services to area residents in Orlando, Florida. The companies aim to improve communication between Walmart and Orlando medical sites, allowing patients to transition more quickly from one provider to another.
“By collaborating with Walmart Health and focusing on coordinating care across our shared patient population, we will be better positioned to more quickly identify patient needs and improve outcomes together in the Orlando region.” said Cary Dortona, senior vice president of health. President of Orlando Health Medical Group.
Walmart is expanding its healthcare footprint in Florida and currently has 23 Walmart Health Centers located adjacent to Walmart Supercenters in the state. They provide services such as primary care, behavioral health, and dental care.
