Walmart’s Great Value brand organic raw honey is not actually “raw” or “organic,” according to a false advertising class action lawsuit filed in Illinois federal court on October 10.

But plaintiff John Werttimer argues that Walmart’s Great Value honey is overheated during processing and cannot be considered “raw.” According to the Walmart class action lawsuit, heating raw honey to temperatures above 105 degrees destroys beneficial enzymes.
Wertimer also claims that Walmart’s honey contains a type of added sweetener commonly found in industrial sugar. Therefore, he says, the product cannot be considered “raw” or “organic.”
