TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Walmart announced Wednesday it will “take the inflation out” of Thanksgiving dinner by lowering prices on customers’ favorite brands, and Aldi also announced it will lower prices.
Starting Nov. 1, Walmart will offer two meal options: ready-to-bake and those that must be cooked from scratch, including turkey, ham, stuffing, pumpkin pie and more, the company said in a news release. Ta.
These meal options will be available for purchase online starting November 1st.
The company said many foods will be offered at lower prices compared to last year.
“Savings remain a top priority for our customers, and this holiday season we believe our customers need to save more than ever, so we’re excited to announce that we’ve made it easier to save money than we did last year,” John Farner, president and CEO, said in a statement. We will further develop the investments we have made.”
Aldi, which recently announced its acquisition of Winn-Dixie, has announced it will lower prices on more than 70 holiday food items. The company said customers could see a 50% reduction in prices on some products.
“Thanksgiving is all about gratitude, and we are truly grateful to our many loyal customers around the world,” Aldi President Dave Rinaldo said in a statement. “With inflation still looming, we are offering shoppers extra reassurance to help make the holiday season a time of celebration rather than stress.”
Aldi said the price cuts would continue until the end of the year. Walmart’s sale continues until December 26th.
The average cost of a Thanksgiving meal in 2022 is estimated to be about $64 for 10 people, according to the U.S. Farm Bureau. But this year, turkey production is expected to increase and prices to fall.
