As the holiday season approaches, two major grocery chains have announced price cuts to help customers cope with inflation.
Walmart on Wednesday announced “De-Inflation,” which will make Thanksgiving meals cheaper than in 2022, according to a press release. The major supermarket chain will be offering two Thanksgiving meal options this year. One with ingredients for customers who prefer to cook from scratch, and the other for customers who prefer ready-to-bake options.
Walmart’s Thanksgiving Meal Basket includes national brand entrees and sides, including turkey, ham, stuffing and pumpkin pie, all priced under $1 a pound. These baskets can be purchased and picked up or delivered through the Walmart website or app.
These holiday prices don’t just apply to Thanksgiving. The Walmart sale begins on November 1st and is valid until December 26th, 2023.
Aldi is also focusing on holiday pricing, announcing on Wednesday that it would be cutting prices by up to 50% on more than 70 items in its stores.
The price reductions include seasonal items like gravy, potatoes, green beans, cranberries and pumpkin pie, as well as kitchen staples like butter and flour, according to a press release.
Aldi’s price cuts will begin on November 1st and last until the end of the year.
