VPPPA Safety+ Sunday Deep Dive Sessions Offer Deeper Learning
Topics include process safety management, confined space safety, industrial hygiene best practices and more.
The 2024 Safety+ Symposium, hosted by the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association, Inc. (VPPPA), features a wide variety of networking, workshops and other activities, but an in-depth session on Sunday, August 25, allowed attendees to delve deeper into specific topics.
These sessions are open to attendee, OSHA/DOE/DOD, and nonprofit-level registrants and are designed to provide intensive, hands-on learning opportunities tailored to the specific needs and interests of specific participants through full-day and half-day sessions.
The day-long sessions included engaging topics such as “DOE-VPP Update” and “VPP Application Workshop” aimed at informing professionals about the latest developments in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Voluntary Conservation Program (DOE-VPP) and providing practical guidance for navigating the VPP application process.
For those looking for more flexibility, Sunday's Safety+ Deep Dive lineup also featured several half-day sessions: Morning sessions featured “PSM 101,” an introduction to process safety management, and “Excellence in Industrial Hygiene,” focusing on best practices for maintaining health standards in the workplace.
Meanwhile, the afternoon sessions included “The Smooth Operator: Soft Skills for Continuous Improvement and Coaching Culture”, which focused on developing interpersonal skills to foster a positive culture in the workplace, and “Competent Entry/Carer/Entry Supervisor in Confined Spaces: Don't Be a Statistics”, which highlighted the importance of safety in confined spaces.
