The annual Miami Twp. Veterans Day Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the new location, the Hilton Garden Inn, 12000 Innovation Drive, Austin Landing. Guest speakers are Janet Wells and Honor Flight Dayton. This is a charity that takes veterans on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Washington, D.C., to see the site, free of charge. The Miamisburg High School choir will perform and students from Bishop Liebold School will surprise the veterans.

Veterans Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
The Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS), the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Executive Committee, and the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Foundation will induct the 2023 Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame class at the annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Thursday, November 9th at 10 a.m. Honoring the Military Hall of Fame class. at The Ohio State University Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road, Columbus.
The class of 20 will receive medals from ODVS Director Deborah Ashenhurst.

Vietnam: Eternal Honor
Centerville Washington History and the Washington Centerville Public Library will host their annual exhibit honoring all veterans from November 9th to 12th. Uniforms, crafts, and historical items will be on display. This year’s exhibit pays homage to the Vietnam War experience, including a summer retrospective. healing wall Showcase.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m., David Meyer will speak at the library about his experiences during the Vietnam War. Meyer grew up in a large family on a farm in northern Ohio. A Vietnam War-era Air Force veteran, he is an accomplished public servant who has made a significant impact on the Dayton area as a professional engineer. In 2020, Dave was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.
The 2023 Veterans Exhibit will be open to the public in the Centerville Library Community Room during regular business hours from Thursday, Nov. 9 through Sunday, Nov. 12. The exhibit ends one hour before the library closes.

FHS announces Veterans Day program
Franklin High School will hold its 23rd annual Veterans Day program on Friday, Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. in McDade Auditorium. Veterans and their guests from all regions, as well as active military personnel, are welcome to attend. Please arrive by 8:45am for priority seating.
This year’s guest speaker is Franklin Police Chief Adam Colon, who served in the U.S. Army prior to his career in law enforcement.
The FHS Band and Choir will perform patriotic and military music including the Star-Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, God Bless America, Military March, and Army Caisson Songs.
A reception will be held at the media center after the program.

Awesome clip offering free haircuts
For the 11th year, this Veterans Day, Great Clips Salons across the country, including the Dayton area, are showing appreciation to active duty and veterans. On November 11th, veterans and active duty military members will be able to go to Great Clip Salons in the United States and get either a free haircut or a free haircut card to use later.
Additionally, non-veteran customers who receive a haircut at Great Clips Salon on Veterans Day may pay in advance. They will receive a free haircut card that they can give to active duty military or veterans as a token of their appreciation. This card can be redeemed for a free haircut at any Great Clips salon from November 12th to December 1st.

McDonald’s praises veterans by providing free meals
McDonald’s restaurants in Ohio are honored to serve veterans, active duty military and their families every day. This year, McDonald’s restaurants across the region will be celebrating Veterans Day in a special way by providing free meals to current and former military members.
Participating McDonald’s restaurants will provide meals all day Saturday, Nov. 11, to all veterans with valid military identification. For breakfast, veterans can enjoy an Egg McMuffin or Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit, plus hash browns and any size soft serve. drinks, tea and coffee. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Wildlife Division is inviting veterans to visit one of Ohio’s public shooting ranges and shoot for free on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11. To show our appreciation, the Wildlife Service is offering free grazing days. Thank you to all our veterans for their service. This event includes all classes A, B, and C ranges. Visit one of the following public shooting ranges and get free hands-on firearms experience from a certified instructor from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Airplane Story: Veterans Day
Spend a day honoring our veterans and learn first-hand about the history of our Air Force and the invaluable role airmen play in making it possible. Airplane Talk will be held at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, 1100 Spaatz St., WPAFB, on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A subject matter expert will be stationed in a gallery near the aircraft or exhibit related to Veterans Day.
