The holidays are a special time in Saratoga Springs. Celebrate in Saratoga is a multi-week event with a variety of activities to help residents celebrate the holiday season.
The list of events begins with the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony held on the Monday after Thanksgiving. This year’s event will be held on November 27th. Residents can join in and kick off the season as Saratoga Springs Royalty lights up the city’s Christmas tree in Neptune Park. Santa will arrive at 6pm, followed by a tree lighting program and fireworks show from 6:30pm.
People who need special accommodations often have difficulty finding a time or place to visit with Santa. Saratoga Springs will hold its annual Silent Santa event on December 2nd. This event provides a time to meet Santa in a quiet, low-stress environment. Registration is required to participate in this event. Registration opens in November of each year.
This year, the Saratoga Springs Arts Council will be holding its annual Children’s Visual Arts Contest. Applications will be accepted until November 27th. Winners will be announced at the Holiday Orchestra Concert on Dec. 7 at Vista Heights Middle School. This free, family-friendly concert is traditionally marked by a visit from Santa and Christmas presents for everyone in attendance.
This year we have added a holiday magic show to our event lineup. It will be held at Thunder Ridge Elementary School on Dec. 11 from 7 p.m. Bring your family and enjoy the holiday magic.
The Saratoga Springs Youth Council is proud to once again partner with the Westlake Student Council as sponsors of the Christmas Jar Program. The Youth Council and Miss Saratoga Springs Royalty will be participating in the Stuff the Jar Night holiday carnival at Westlake High School on December 13th. All proceeds from the Christmas jars will support families in need in Saratoga Springs.
Don’t forget to submit your letter to Santa at the library by December 16th to receive a response. Letter templates are available on the city’s website.
Many of these fun activities have become family traditions for our residents. We look forward to continuing to work with other community groups to provide family-friendly events and activities to help everyone enjoy the holiday season. Events like this one help bring the community together, make Saratoga Springs a great place to live and play, and make life here better.
