The IBU has announced it wants to expand the sport’s popularity in the American market, and the United States Biathlon Association recently announced it will move its headquarters to Soldier Hollow in Midway.
Jack Gearhart, president of the United States Biathlon Association, told KPCW’s Local News Hour that he believes Heber Valley is an ideal location to recruit more athletes and provide a fun event for local spectators. Stated.
“We are really grateful to the Midway and Heber City communities for welcoming us here,” he said. “We are moving our corporate offices to Soldier Hollow and we are really looking forward to helping grow the sport here, supporting our partner the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation, and getting to know the community.” I’m looking forward to seeing you.” I’m within range with all my might. ”
He said biathlon, where athletes shoot targets in between long-distance ski races like cross-country, is a fun sport to watch, and locals who have never done biathlon are encouraged to attend the event this weekend. He said people should check out Schutzenski’s event, as well as other events coming to Soldier Hollow.
“So there’s always a kind of excitement of who can take over the standings, and the audience is incredibly into it,” he said. “It goes from complete silence to cheers, and then complete silence to cheers, with everyone rooting for just about every different athlete. In some European countries, it’s the second most popular sport after soccer. It’s a sport. And this statistic is from the 2222 Winter Olympics, where American audiences totaled about 30 million hours of viewing time, which seems to be No. 3 in the world.”
