Vitals checked at the library on November 13th
On the second Monday of every month, Aurora Healthcare offers free health screenings at the Racine Public Library. These sessions are a great opportunity to check your blood pressure and other vitals, learn new things about how to take care of yourself, and pick up some health-themed goodies. Health pop-ups like this one are just part of the health and social services we offer at the Racine Public Library. This includes child development activities, citizenship workshops, reading instruction, and more.

NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month
From Wednesday, November 1st to Thursday, November 30th | All day long | Wherever you are
NaNoWriMo is a fun and powerful approach to creative writing. The challenge: draft an entire novel (or other writing-based project) in just one month. During his wild, exciting, and surprising 30 days, you can channel your inner editor, let your imagination run wild, and just create. To track your progress with other writers at the Racine Public Library, ask Carrie at her Youth Services desk.

Next time you’re at the library, check out a movie! We are screening movies from a wide range of age groups and genres selected by our staff, so please enjoy them. Movie titles and ratings will be posted outside the community room during screenings.

Start Your Life Smarter: Programs for Families

Parents and children alike can participate in fun, engaging, hands-on learning activities that help them develop important skills for success in life, such as building healthy relationships with others and managing emotions. please. Participants receive rewards for completing all learning stations. Snacks will be provided, along with a calming kit and helpful resources to take home. This event is hosted by the Kindergarten Readiness 4K Books Project Committee and the Racine Public Library.

Coding class: Scratch Jr.

Start your coding journey. Learn the basics of coding using his Scratch Jr., an easy block coding program for younger children.

Rapsit story time
Monday 6th November | 10am – 10:20am | Every Monday to 13th November | Martin Room – Youth Services, 1st Floor | Birth to 24 months
Introduce your child to the Racine Public Library through new stories, simple songs, and Miss Ali and Miss Carrie rhymes. Children up to 24 months old can participate with a guardian.

Snuggle and pet a therapy dog at the Racine Public Library, and practice your reading skills in the ear of a gentle, non-judgmental canine friend. Reservations are 15 minutes per child and must be booked one week in advance. Please give us a call at 262-636-9217.

Spanish and English citizenship exam classes with Voces de la Frontera
Wednesday, November 8th | Spanish: 2:00pm – 4:00pm • English: 4:30pm – 6:30pm | Every Wednesday | Business Center – Adult Services, 2nd Floor
Voces de la Frontera classes will help you prepare to take the citizenship exam. You can attend as many sessions as you like that are helpful to you. To register, contact Jeanette Arellano at 414-236-0415 or Paola Barragan at 262-346-4027. All students must have at least their 5-year residency history, or their 3-year residency history as a permanent resident who is married to a U.S. citizen.
