Back to school means a lot to Marywood students. With the fall semester in full swing, the workload on students in all majors has become even more intense. Marywood’s Activities Council (MAC) helps ensure students have fun breaks from studying and events to look forward to throughout the semester. Two of his MAC members, Juan Cardenas and Ryan Glatzel, gave us details about the club’s upcoming events.
Marywood Student Dance: Spooky Soiree (October 27): Following last year’s Masquerade Dance, MAC has decided to hold another dance later this month. The theme is “Spooky Soiree” and there will be food, drinks and a DJ. The dance will be held at the Liguori Center in Regina Hall from 8pm to 10pm.
Intramural Ax Throwing Tournament (November 4th): In November, MAC will be sponsoring an ax throwing event on campus. Students can throw an ax at a wooden target. This event is expected to encourage friendly competition among students. The exact location will be determined closer to the event date.
New York City bus trip (December 2nd): In December, students will take a day trip to New York City. A bus will arrive on campus to take interested students to Manhattan. Once in town, students can explore whatever they want while there and until they get back on the bus.
Decorating ornaments and gingerbread cookies (12/7): Christmas may seem like a long way off, but MAC is already planning a number of holiday-themed events on campus. This event will be held on campus as part of MAC’s “12 Days of Christmas” event. The remaining events will be announced at a later date. Students can decorate ornaments and gingerbread cookies using materials provided by MAC.
Many more bingo and trivia nights are held throughout the term, allowing students to test their knowledge and compete with other students. You will receive an email regarding each night’s theme and prizes.
When asked what she is most looking forward to, Cardenas said, “Dancing with my friends and having fun,” and mentioned the upcoming October dance. “I’m really excited about Bingo and the upcoming prizes and themes and the upcoming dances,” Glatzel said.
