Story time at Water Works Department Mahon Library

Join Mahon Library’s Water Works Department at 1306 9th Street for story time and fun activities. Storytime begins with a reading of “The Little Raindrop” by Joanna Gray. This book depicts the journey of a tiny raindrop as it falls to the earth, becomes part of the ocean, and then returns to the sky. Fun, hands-on learning activities follow to encourage creativity and learning. Participants create a raindrop puppet and leave the house with free items to continue the water learning experience. An iconic figure in Mexican folk art, La Catrina has become a cultural symbol traditionally used in the celebration of the Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos). Haunted Lubbock: A History of Mahon Library

In this lecture, narrators will tell true stories about paranormal sightings and paranormal hotspots that have been reported throughout Lubbock over the past 100 years. Stories include unsolved murders and paranormal sightings at spots such as the Lubbock Cemetery, Hell’s Gate, the Pioneer Hotel, Cliffhouse Restaurant, and Lubbock High School.
