FORT GRATIOTE (WWJ) – “We have to catch the suspect?”
St. Clair County law enforcement officials are asking for help identifying a man believed to be part of a trio who stole nearly $500 worth of Pokemon cards from Walmart.
According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged theft occurred on Oct. 24 when a man pushing a stroller and accompanied by another man and woman entered the Fort Gratiot Walmart around lunchtime.
“Maybe the trio were looking for last-minute Halloween costumes or needed diapers? No,” a post on the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page said Saturday.
Officials said they had Pokemon cards in mind.
The pair fled on foot and in a car, stuffing nearly $500 worth of Pikachu and friends into an empty stroller left at the store, the sheriff’s office said.
Officials said two of the suspects have been identified, but they are still searching for the third suspect and are asking the public for information to help identify him.
“I have to catch them all!” he said in a Facebook post, referencing the popular anime show and card game’s theme song.
“So while you’re scrolling through Facebook or Instagram, or is he watching TikTok?… Look at the guy below,” the post reads.
Anyone who recognizes the man seen in the photo wearing a black Nike T-shirt and black Vans flatbill hat is asked to call the detective bureau at 810-987-1711.
Officials said other suspects have been identified, but it was not immediately clear whether they were in custody.
