Trick-or-treating isn’t just for Halloween night. Downtown trick-or-treating, trunk-or-treating, and other Halloween events abound in the Illinois Valley’s La Salle, Bureau, and Putnam counties and surrounding communities. Introducing the event schedule for each season.
cornell
Halloween Bingo will be held at the Cornell Fire Department, 406 W. Main Street, on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the best costumes. Benefits will be available.
Dana
A Halloween party is planned at the park starting at 5 p.m. We offer hot dogs, chips, snacks, and more. There are also hay rides. Wear costumes if necessary.
Trunk-or-treat is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31. It will be located on Lake Street between Third and Second streets.

The trunk-or-treat event is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Farm Ridge Township Hall, 130 Sylvan Avenue.

The Trunk-or-Treat and Halloween Party is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon at 4514 Section St.

The Village of Ladd will sponsor a Halloween parade and party for the children and grandchildren of Ladd residents on Sunday, October 29th at 1 p.m. Parade line-up begins at the North Central Bank parking lot, located at 110 N. Main Street. Hocus Pocus Hug will perform on the tennis courts at War Memorial Park, and kids will be treated to hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks.
Our Hometown Halloween is scheduled to begin with a performance of Hocus Pocus Hug on Saturday, October 28th at 10:30 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 209 Gooding Street. The performance will be followed by a costume parade. An award will be given for the best costume for each age group. Trick-or-treating will then be held at local businesses from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In case of rain, the parade will be moved to the Grove Center, 1055 Sixth St.
marseille
The Marseille Elementary School PTA will be sponsoring the annual “Trunk or Treat Festival” on Sunday, October 29th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the IV Cellular Parking Lot. There will be treats, games and photo opportunities.
mendota
Mendota will host trick-or-treating downtown on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Oglesby
Oglesby’s Kids Costume Parade on Walnut Street is set for Saturday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m. Participants should line up at the Knights of Columbus, located at 307 E. Florence St. The parade ends at the Oglesby Police Department, 128 W. Walnut St. Children can: Then go trick-or-treating at a downtown business. Additional activities will be held at Senica Square during the Harvest Festival.
Ottawa
Starved Rock Regional Center will be holding its annual Trunk-or-Off on Saturday, October 21st from 4-8 p.m. at the La Salle County 4-H Fairgrounds, 1578 4-H Road, Ottawa. We will hold a treat. In addition to candy, a hay maze, a haunted house, raffles, games, hay rides, seven inflatables, music and food trucks, there will also be a new toddler town. The fee at the gate is $40 per vehicle. Crossbridge Church (4161 Columbus St.) will host a Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be candy, games, refreshments, photography and other activities.
Trick-or-treating on Court Street is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28, from noon to 3 p.m. The free event will feature games, prizes and refreshments. The Halloween parade is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., and registration is due Oct. 15. The parade concludes with a trunk-or-treat event at Jordan Block.
Halloween in the Park will be held at Washington Park on Saturday, October 28th from 1pm to 3pm. Costumes are also encouraged. Peruvian police will lead a K-9 demonstration starting at 1:45 p.m., and Hocus Pocus Hugs will perform at 2:30 p.m. There will also be an aerial experience of a fire truck and pumpkin decorations. In case of rain, it will be set for the same time and location the next day.
princeton
The Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Scarecrow Fest is scheduled for Saturday, October 28th. Events will be held across the city from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Trick-or-treating at Main Street retailers is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a Halloween costume contest and mat strut at Soldiers and Sailors Park at 4:30 p.m. The Halloween parade is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Main Street, followed by a performance by Hocus His Pocus His Hug at the Bureau County Fairgrounds, 811 W. Peru St. Princeton’s Scarecrow Fest features a variety of activities throughout the day. For more information about Scarecrow Fest, visit the Princeton Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. This event has been postponed from its original date due to rain.
Seneca
Seneca first responders and the Park Board will host a trunk-or-treat to kick off Halloween trick-or-treating. The event will be held behind the police station at 340 N. Cash St. on Tuesday, October 31st from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
sheridan
Trunk or Treat is scheduled for Friday, October 27th from 6-7pm in the parking lot next to the park. After Trunk or Snack, watch a movie in the park at 7 p.m.
PAWS at JFK Elementary School presents its annual trunk or treat giveaway. Decorate trunks and hand out treats at the school, 999 N. Strong Ave., on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 5:30 p.m. The most beautifully decorated trunk will receive a prize and the winner of the pumpkin decorating contest will be announced.
Aperion Care (1300 N. Greenwood St.) will be handing out treats on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. Hocus Pocus Hug is scheduled to perform at 6:30 p.m. Costumes are welcome.
Trunk or Treat will be held at North Point Plaza on Friday, October 27th from 6-8 p.m.
Downtown trick-or-treating will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 28. Heritage Park will have activities, photo props and food.
Visit Villa at Hollybrook (2002 E. Main St.). A trick-or-treat event will be held on Saturday, October 28th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The public is welcome to join in as residents hand out candy to all the children in costume. We also sell baked goods.

A trunk-or-treat is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 29 at 12:45 p.m. in the North Uptown parking lot. The Trunk-or-Treat event is in conjunction with the Fall Festival from 1 to 3 p.m. and includes a family photo booth, pet giveaways and more. Photo contest, chili and s’mores, and crafts.
