GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Some volunteers from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and local Dunkin locations went shopping for a good cause Friday. They purchased gifts for this year’s toy collection drive at Walmart in Glenville.
The cost was covered by a $25,000 donation from Dunkin’. Every item you purchase helps ensure children have gifts this holiday season.
“So anything that comes in here stays here and goes right back into this community,” said Patrick Lurenz, Capital Region Toys for Tots U.S. Maritime Coordinator. “The need is very high. Obviously, coming out of the pandemic there will be some changes that families will have to adjust to, but the U.S. Marine Corps and Toys for Tots in the Capital Region are working hard to help families who are struggling this year.” We’re here to meet your needs.”
If you would like to help, donations are accepted at 400 locations across the region, including more than 100 Dunkin’ restaurants. The collection campaign will continue until December 23rd.
Toys for Tots is also collecting giveaways on Saturday, November 18th. The U.S. Marine Corps will hold a drive-thru event at the Delaware Plaza Shopping Center in Del Mar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Malta Ridge Volunteer Fire Department will also host a collection parade at SPAC from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
