TikTok on iOS today offered a new experience for iPad users that the platform calls a “complete upgrade.” This includes a new navigation bar, a new video feed with “enhanced clarity,” and support for both landscape and portrait orientation.
The latest TikTok iOS release on the App Store was version 32.5.0 on December 12, so this appears to be a server-side update.
But today, TikTok detailed the new iPad experience on its blog:
People can now watch their favorite videos on a bigger screen and experience a crisp video feed, streamlined navigation bar, and directional support that will take their TikTok journey to the next level. As part of this experience, we plan to continue experimenting with features such as the Topics feed, which allows users to explore videos across categories such as games, food, fashion, and sports.
Here’s what you can expect from the three new elements.
- Clear video feed: Enjoy a more sophisticated video feed that showcases your content more clearly.
- Streamlined navigation bar: Easily navigate TikTok using the sleek navigation bars at the top and bottom of the screen to easily access your favorite features and tabs.
- Support for landscape or portrait use: No matter how you hold your device, TikTok now works in landscape or portrait orientation.
TikTok said the new iPad experience is “part of our commitment to providing inclusive and fun spaces for everyone, and we will continue to invest in creating great experiences for our community.”
If you don’t already have it, you can get TikTok for iPad for free from the App Store.
Meanwhile, Instagram’s CEO said in October that an iPad app is not yet in development.
