Smartphone users around the world make quick decisions when it comes to downloading or uninstalling applications. Retention period is primarily determined by user preferences and app popularity. TRG Data Centers recently conducted an analysis of smartphone users’ app uninstall habits and uncovered some unexpected findings. This report takes a deep dive into the data and provides insights into user behavior when it comes to installing and removing mobile applications.
According to the report, there are 4.8 billion social media users worldwide, representing 59.9% of the world’s population and 92.7% of all internet users. People who use social media use an average of 6.7 different networks each month and spend an average of 2 hours and 24 minutes on networks per day.
The report’s findings reveal that Instagram has emerged as the social media platform that most users tend to delete. According to the data, in 2023 all over the world a staggering number of over 1 million individuals were actively searching for “how to delete Instagram account” every month. This equates to more than 12,500 searches for her per 100,000 people worldwide.
Interestingly, despite its origins as a digital scrapbook, Instagram has consistently remained at the forefront of the social media landscape.
The report further states that despite these trends, the app still boasts 2.4 billion active users worldwide. But if 1 million people continue to ask for their accounts to be deleted every month, the “Instagram” bubble could burst and the situation could change within a year.
This was followed by Snapchat, which first launched in 2011. Nearly 130,000 people are trying to delete their Snapchat account every month this year. Although this is significantly less than Instagram, he still accounts for the majority of its 750 million users.
