Singapore – The MyTransport.SG mobile app has been updated to make it easier for bus and MRT passengers to plan their journeys.
By launching the app on a smartphone, travel planners will be able to see the nearest bus stop and associated bus arrival times, as well as the congestion status of nearby MRT or LRT stations.
As part of the app’s latest update in November, users can now enter their destination and see travel options. You can also just take the bus, MRT, or a combination of both.
Click on a station to see other useful data, such as train timetables, the location of station exits, and information about any elevator maintenance. The number of bicycles parked at that location is also displayed, but the actual occupancy rate is not displayed.
This feature was already present in previous versions of the app, but users had to go several times to access information such as bus availability and station congestion when parked behind a submenu in the app. I had to click.
Driving-related information, such as Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) prices and views from traffic cameras, has been moved from the landing page to make room for this information up front.
The latest version of the free-to-download smartphone app was made available in the Google Play Store on November 15 for Android devices. The update became available for Apple devices on November 17th.
According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the MyTransport.SG app has an average of 160,000 daily active users. The revamped app has racked up 2.5 million downloads since its release in September 2018.
LTA said it hopes the app will “enable Singapore’s commuters, drivers and cyclists to make informed decisions and improve their travel experience”.
In March 2022, the app announced that it had recorded 119,000 downloads within two months of its electric vehicle charging point network being integrated into the app.
In November 2022, the app was updated to include information on real-time availability of charging points, and downloads increased by a further 96,000 in two months.
