Hameshivta Yeshiva recently launched an innovative new app called “Talking Siddur,” which helps those new to prayer recite along or recite tehillim by voice while driving.
Hamesivta, a yeshiva that treats boys like its own children and caters to their individual needs, has launched a new app for bochurim.
Anyone can download it for free at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hamesivta-the-talking-siddur/id6569262781.
The app “HaMesivta – The Talking Siddur” contains the text and audio of the rabbi. David Horowitz Read it out loud to make it easier to read.
This is extremely helpful for beginners who are learning the davening, and is also great for anyone who wants to hear it out loud. Use headphones at your synagogue to help you keep up with the minyan. The audio can be sped up or slowed down, and the line you're reading is highlighted in yellow, making it easier to keep on place. Common uses for this app include reciting Tehillim with Rabbi Horowitz (especially if you're driving or can't see inside for other reasons) and learning how to do the lean.
Included Seforim include Chumash, Tehillim, Taniyah, Rambam, Siddur, and even the soon-to-be-needed Srichos. The text of Chumash, Tehillim, Taniyah, and Siddur are available offline (audio is used with an internet connection).
Hamesivta is like a close-knit family where each student is valued as a unique individual. Teachers spend time with students both at school and outside of school, at farbrengen, Shabbat meals, and Shabbat afternoon gatherings where students bond over snacks and board games. Students feel free to share ideas and ask teachers for advice.
Even years after graduating, the bond remains strong as students return for advice on all areas of life: shidduchim, life choices, marriage, etc. Every simcha of a graduate is a simcha for the entire Hamesivta family.
At Hamesivta, each boy learns at his own level and has an individually tailored program. Staff understand that children are born with a love of learning, and their goal is to nurture and expand that love. Every boy learns differently and experiences the world in his own unique way.
There is much more to a human being than academics, and HaMesivta focuses on the whole person.
This year, Hamesivta was fortunate to welcome a new Menahel, a Rabbi. Moshe Halpernhas 15 years of experience working with a particular focus on Chinook, taking in boys who, for whatever reason, don’t fit into the “box” and helping them grow into upstanding members of the Jewish community.
Hamesivta is still accepting enrollments, so if you know of a boy who should attend yeshiva this coming school year, please contact Rabbi Leiblich at (347) 234-8928.
To help the Zexu brothers take part in this unique Chinuk opportunity and help Hamesivta continue their education according to the boys' individual strengths and abilities, you can make a difference by donating at Hamesivta.com .
