What if you could always have Crunchwrap Supreme in your kitchen for when you’re craving it? Well, that dream has now become a reality.
On January 4, Taco Bell launched Crunchwrap Supreme and Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla Cravings Kits, which include the chain’s unique restaurant ingredients, seasonings and sauces. The kit, available exclusively at Walmart stores and on its website, is the key to making Taco Bell’s fan-favorite dishes at home.
These kits are the latest additions to Kraft Heinz’s Taco Bell At Home line, following in the footsteps of the Cheese Double Decker Taco Dinner Kit, Crunchy & Soft Taco Craving Kit, and more.
“In a partnership built on a mutual obsession with consumers, Kraft Heinz and Taco Bell are launching the Taco Bell at Home line, bringing distinctive, coveted Taco Bell products and flavors to grocery store aisles. We’re now delivering Taco Bell directly to fans to make their Taco Bell just the way they want it,” Danielle Coopersmith, associate director of marketing for Taco Bell at Home, said in a press release.
Each Cravings Kit contains four servings of the ingredients needed to make both Crunchwrap Supreme and Chipotle Chicken Quesadillas. Customers customize their dishes by adding their protein of choice (ground beef, chicken, beans, etc.) and customized add-ons like cheese, lettuce, guacamole, and more.
“The release of our Cravings Kits is the first of several Taco Bell at Home innovations planned this year, but Kraft Heinz is leading the way in the future of food,” said Kraft Heinz’s Alan Kleinerman. “This is a great example of how the company is meeting its goals to said the company’s vice president of disruptive innovation in a release.
Review of Taco Bell’s new Cravings Kits
First of all, the comments are generally positive. My Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme and Chipotle Chicken Quesadillas were without a doubt the freshest and tastiest Taco Bell I’ve ever had.
This is not surprising. Because the finished treat was delivered straight from the frying pan, warm, toasty, and gooey into my hungry gullet. But he also found that building one of these kits was much more fun than the others.
Crunchwrap Supreme Cravings Kit ($6.98)
Taco Bell calls the Crunchwrap Supreme “perhaps the most iconic menu item” in the company’s history, and for good reason. This crunchy, soft item has inspired many social media users to create their own versions, including on his TikTok.
This kit comes with 4 12-inch flour tortillas, Velvita cheese sauce, 4 tostada shells, and your choice of taco seasoning for meat.
As I assembled the Crunchwrap Supreme, I gained a newfound appreciation for Taco Bell’s employees. Because it takes many steps to get from point A to Supreme.
The five instructions on the box are clear, direct, and easy to understand, but deceptively complex. Stir and season the ground beef, cut the tomatoes and lettuce, and turn on the oven to warm up the tostadas before assembling. I understand that this kit is very reasonable if you’re cooking for a family of four, but for one person, you’ll need quite a bit for a midday lunch.
It’s also worth noting, though I’m not complaining, that the tortillas were ludicrously large, a foot in diameter, and I had to clear the dining room table to finish my meal.
Spreading the sauce, sprinkling cheese, adding toppings, and searing the edges like Taco Bell was like putting together a complex puzzle, but it was a lot of fun.
Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla Craving Kit ($6.98)
This kit comes with four 10-inch flour tortillas, Velvita cheese sauce, and a pack of creamy chipotle sauce, my personal favorite Taco Bell sauce.
The kit I had the most fun making was the Chipotle Chicken Quesadillas. Full disclosure: This is what I order every time I get Taco Bell. In other words, this kit has a high hurdle to clear.
This kit requires only four steps and few ingredients, just add chicken, cheese, and any other toppings you like. I chose leftover chopped tomatoes from the Crunchwrap.
For the quesadillas, I used a cast iron pan to warm up the tortillas for easy folding before assembling each half. Spread creamy chipotle sauce and Velveeta cheese sauce on half of a 10-inch tortilla, then add chicken and plenty of shredded cheese, fold both sides, and heat through. It was done in no time.
In conclusion, I enjoyed eating both Homemade Taco Bell items, but I would probably only buy the Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla Kit again because of how easy it was to assemble. But it never hurts to keep both kits in your pantry in case you want to celebrate Taco Tuesday in a fresher way.
