A suspect was taken into custody after a nearly three-hour standoff that began as a domestic violence incident in the parking lot of a Palm Desert Walmart store.
The incident was first reported at 6:24 p.m.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office told News Channel 3 that deputies were called to the 34000 block of Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert for a report of domestic violence.
“The victim told dispatch that her boyfriend had physical contact with her and threatened to hurt her. The victim was able to enter the store to call 911, but the suspect remained in the parking lot. I was in a car that was stopped,” the email said. agency.
