IDAHO FALLS — Sensory-friendly trunk and treat events are being planned for people with special needs and their families in several eastern Idaho communities.
Many children with special needs struggle with traditional Halloween events due to crowds, uncertainty of their surroundings, or other restrictions. Special needs events provide them with a safe, non-hazardous environment to enjoy Halloween.

Camp Hayden will host its 4th Annual Special Needs Trunk-or-Treat at the Development Workshop in Idaho Falls. This accessible trunk or treat is intended for children and adults with disabilities and their families. It will be held on October 28th from 3pm to 6pm at 555 West 25th Street
This event is free thanks to Camp Hayden donors and the support of DWI, which donates the DWI building and provides volunteers for the event.
Participants will dress up and “trick-or-treat” in the trunks of all the cars that will be set up in the parking lot outside the event center to distribute candy and non-edible items (for those with dietary restrictions). You are invited to do so.
The building will also host accessible haunted sensory events that serve the needs of the special needs community.
