Durant, Oklahoma – Southeastern Oklahoma State University has announced a schedule of “Native November” events to coincide with the celebration of Native American Heritage Month in November.
The event begins Thursday, Nov. 2, when the Native American Student Association will host a free lunch for Southeastern students, faculty and staff from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wesley Center.
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s annual Powwow and Choctaw Day will be held Nov. 3-5 at the Choctaw Cultural Center. For more information, please visit www.ChoctawCulturalCenter.com.
Southeastern Cafeteria will be serving Native American cuisine for lunch on Monday, November 6th. The Semple Family Museum of Native American Art will hold an open house on November 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with Frybread Express available.
A stickball exhibition will be held at Paul Laird Field on Wednesday, Nov. 8, starting at 7 p.m.
“Rock Your Mocs Day” will be held on Wednesday, November 15th, and a pottery event will also be held in the Student Union Loft.
This month’s highlights are Southeastern’s 15th The biennial Native American Symposium will be held on Friday, November 17th. The event will be held both in-person and online, with more information coming soon.
The month concludes with an Indian taco fundraiser on Nov. 29 and a Native American T-shirt giveaway at the basketball doubleheader against the Southern Nazarenes on Nov. 30.
