A South Carolina man is facing multiple charges after a shooting at a Walmart Supercenter, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Brandon Perry Buckmon, 22, of Barnwell, the Department of Public Safety announced in a news release.
According to arrest warrants, Buckmon is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, possession of a weapon during a crime of violence, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a pistol, and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. ing.
The shooting occurred Nov. 26 in the Walmart parking lot at 2035 Whiskey Road, according to the release.
Officers responded to the Walmart and were told there was an altercation involving several people and shots were fired at a vehicle, according to the release.
Buckmon and his “co-defendant” were involved in an armed robbery of a person who was sitting in his car, and Buckmon was in possession of a handgun, arrest warrants show.
The victim refused to hand over money and was shot in the shoulder, according to the warrant.
The Department of Public Safety said everyone involved in the shooting, including the victim, left the Walmart before officers arrived.
But later that day, officers learned a person had been shot and was being treated at Aiken Regional Medical Center, police said. The Department of Public Safety said the person, who has not been identified, is believed to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the Walmart shooting.
Further information about the person’s condition was not available and no other injuries were reported. However, the parking lot was “full of cars and there were many people in the immediate vicinity of the shooting scene,” the arrest warrant said.
Buckmon was arrested Nov. 29 in Williston on unrelated charges and is being held in the Orangeburg County Detention Center, according to the release. No information was available about how Buckmon was connected to the Walmart shooting.
On Dec. 1, Buckmon was charged with kidnapping, conspiracy, armed robbery and robbery in an unrelated incident, according to Orangeburg County court records.
Once Buckmon is released on unrelated charges in Orangeburg County, he will be extradited to Aiken County to face formal charges related to the Walmart shooting, the Department of Public Safety announced.
The shooting remains under investigation and more arrests are expected, the Department of Public Safety said.
