The Ridgeland Police Department said the chief is working on launching an app to make life easier for residents. Chief Brian Myers said the app allows residents to pay fines online, receive notifications about crimes in the area and even submit information about crimes. He said the app will bring more transparency to his department. “I think this is a great idea and I hope other agencies follow suit,” Myers said. “It’s a great way to communicate with people. Everyone uses their phones every day, so if we can push notifications out to the public for safety, I think everyone wins,” Myers said. He said the app was created after meeting with someone who wanted to pitch it to the city. The chief said he brought the idea to the Ridgeland City Council, which approved the app as part of the fiscal year 2024 budget. The app is expected to be completed by the end of this month and will be available for free download once it is available.
