climate town hall meeting
Join me today, Wednesday, October 25th, at 6:00 pm for a town hall that I will be hosting with Chairman Acom of the House Climate and Energy Committee, Chairman Hornstein of the House Transportation Committee, and Senator and MD Kelly Morrison. I am writing this letter to invite you.
Focusing on climate and energy, we will discuss initiatives passed during the session and policy strategies we can consider looking to 2024 and beyond. Everyone is welcome to join and share their questions in a productive Q&A dialogue.
Grass to Legumes Workshop
This month, we’ll be at the Arboretum again on Saturday, October 28th at 3pm for a Lawns to Legumes workshop with Senator Morrison and Representative Tabke, the legislative architects of a new program being implemented in Minnesota. Hosted by This is your opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what the Lawn to Legume Initiative is and why it’s important to our community.
House Capital Investments Committee visits Chaska
In other local news, the House Capital Investments Committee was thrilled yesterday morning to welcome Chaska as the first stop on its tour of southwest Minnesota. Mayor Vintsitl detailed the city’s request for $19 million to redevelop Chaska City Square West. Downtown revitalization aims to address the lack of public parking, improve surrounding streets to facilitate traffic flow, improve walkability for pedestrians, and build public restrooms. . The proposal would also use public funds to construct City Hall Plaza, the Arts Consortium Community Room, the Mercado Indoor Farmers Market, and City Square West Plaza.
This public investment will not only create hundreds of local jobs, but also support the small business community and entrepreneurs, improve walkability, and overall help make downtown travel more efficient. . High school student page program now recruiting applicants
Applications are now being accepted for the High School Pages Program with the Minnesota House of Representatives! High school seniors can apply for a week-long learning opportunity at the State Capitol and learn about the state during committee and House proceedings. You can work directly with representatives. Applications are due by November 22nd. Please feel free to share this with your network and high school juniors who are interested in getting involved.
