🎅 New Jersey man creates “Walmart Self-Checkout Christmas Party”
🎅 Police warn you not to turn yourself in
🎅 The event turned into a toy and food drive for needy families
When a New Jersey man created a “Walmart Self-Checkout Christmas Party” event on Facebook as a joke, he had no idea how many people would take him seriously.
But boy did they.
Tens of thousands of people responded to Andrew Delgado’s invitation to celebrate “another successful year of choosing, paying for, and bagging your own groceries.”
His viral impersonation also caught the attention of Walmart and local police.
Delgado tried to make it clear that this was all a joke, but said it would be “great” if it did something to help those less fortunate.
And it happened.
Delgado posted a list of wish items that can be distributed to families who may not be able to enjoy much of the joy of Christmas.

The “party” was scheduled to be held at the Lanoka Harbor Walmart on Dec. 15, according to the original Facebook event post.
Walmart didn’t seem to be amused.
“There doesn’t seem to be much interest in actually hosting an event at the Lanoka Harbor store,” Delgado said in a recent Facebook post.
He also posted that the incident drew the attention of local police, who feared a large crowd would flock to the store and cause chaos.
“Local police will be on hand on the 15th, so please do not show up to cause any disturbance,” Delgado said.
Walmart encouraged people to donate to their own toy drive in stores if they would like to donate.
new venue
“I’m going to find a way to throw a big party at Walmart some other time,” Delgado said, but added that he had secured a new location.
The Lacey Elks Lodge has now decided to welcome anyone who was actually planning on going to the Dec. 15 event as long as they bring a donation for families in need.
“We will be waiting for you in the back parking lot near the fireplace,” a notice on the Elks Lodge’s Facebook page reads.
Participants are asked to bring unwrapped toys, food for the Lacey Food Bank, pet food for the Popcorn Park Zoo, and blankets.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will take photos with the children.
The event at the Elks Lodge will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
