letter to the editor
news day
Editor: I write this letter to express my deep concern regarding the Prime Minister’s recent statements at the PNM public meeting in Chaguanas. Instead of addressing pressing issues such as crime, poverty, injustice, and inequality, Dr. Rowley has chosen to focus on threats to national revenue.
As a citizen, I am disappointed that our leaders seem more interested in discussing economic concerns than the real struggles that ordinary people face every day.
Crime rates continue to rise and communities feel unsafe and vulnerable.
Poverty remains a harsh reality for many, and basic necessities remain out of reach for too many families.
Injustice and inequality continue to exist, undermining the core principles of fairness and equality that should guide our country.
There is no doubt that economic stability is important, but it cannot be achieved at the expense of addressing the social issues that affect people’s lives. As Prime Minister, Mr Rowley has a responsibility to prioritize the well-being of all our people and address the root causes of these pressing social challenges.
I call on the Prime Minister to demonstrate true leadership by recognizing and proactively tackling the issues of crime, poverty, injustice and inequality. Our country deserves leaders who are committed to uplifting all of our people and building a more just and equitable society.
And please ask the people of TT to hold an early general election. We deserve better than you or your government.
