PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – As Steelers fans plan to attend Sunday’s big game against the Cardinals, Uber drivers have a problem.
The company’s app has been experiencing technical issues, and drivers say they’re worried they’ll miss out on a lucrative weekend.
Many Uber drivers are frustrated by the suspension of service and are hoping not to miss out on a weekend full of potential rides.
Jake Parison has been an Uber driver for several years. He said he received an update to his Uber app on his phone on Saturday, but since that update he has been unable to drive or see requests. He said his support team is investigating the issue and expects it to be resolved within 72 hours.
“When I contacted support, they said there was a problem with the system and they couldn’t fix it. They said they were doing their best and gave me a few days, during which time me and my fellow drivers would be losing money.” are on the left and right. ”
It’s a Steelers home game, so it won’t be there in time to benefit from a busy weekend. He said other drivers have faced the same issue, but the only response Uber has given them is to “get you back on the road right away.”
He asked them about the loss of wages and Uber replied there was nothing they could do.
“We’re losing a lot of money, especially with the Steelers game coming up tomorrow. It’s one of the biggest days of the year outside of New Year’s Eve, Thanksgiving or Black Friday,” Parison said. he said.
For Uber users, the cost of a ride has quadrupled.
“It was definitely like that at the airport. It was twice as much. It was $69, then $35,” said rider Jesús Tremillo.
Like other Uber drivers, they rely on games and weekends like this for business. KDKA-TV has reached out to Uber for comment.
