Here are six recommended live events for next week.
No one would ever accuse Peter Gabriel of being extremely prolific. His upcoming album, I/O, is his first album in 12 years and only his fifth in the past 30 years. And Gabriel has no intention of touring in earnest unless he has time to conceive elaborate productions to accompany his new music. The same goes for his latest work. Gabriel will be hosting his I/O The Tour, which will be visiting this town for the first time in over a dozen years. And as is the case with the art-rock legend, the show is likely to be as much a visual feast as it is a look back at his musical career dating back to his late 1960s with Genesis.

baroness
Georgia have spent more than a decade recording progressive metal with colorful titles such as “Red Album,” “Blue Record,” “Yellow and Green,” “Purple,” and “Gold and Grey.” The state baroness took a more rustic approach with her new “Stone.” ” Although the title has changed, the music remains a well-balanced mix of short, slow songs and songs that are over 6 minutes long. This band remains a bright light among the hard-hitting crowd, unafraid to incorporate beautiful harmonies and melodic hooks into their big sound.

legendary mourners
The late great Bob Marley left behind such a vast and timeless music that multiple bands perform under similar names. The Reggae Wailers are led by Julian Jr. Marvin, who joined Marley’s Wailers in 1977 and continued to play with the band after the reggae legend’s death in 1981. It is the addition of two other celebrated ensembles that turns the show into a mini-reggae fest. Doreen Shaffer is the only original member of the Skatalites, but the touring version of the ska/rocksteady/reggae ensemble continues to keep that tradition alive nearly 60 years after the group’s founding. And Third His World, one of the great roots reggae acts to emerge in the ’70s, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
