Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA), a full-time, tuition-free, online public school for kindergarten through 12th grade, partners with alumni to host 9th annual Christmas Toy Drive in support of Nationwide Children’s Hospital Did.
Until today, the OHVA Agricultural Society is accepting donations of new, unwrapped, non-violent toys for children of all ages. All toys collected will be donated on December 9th to children at National Children’s Hospital who cannot be home with their families over the holidays. Examples of toys that are acceptable for babies include rattles, pacifiers, stacking cups, shapes, plastic links, mirrors, and musical or light-up toys. For preschoolers, this includes crayons, coloring books, molding clay, puzzles, bubbles, books, board games, dolls, and more. For school-aged children, this includes books, games, playing cards, craft sets, ink kits, and art supplies. For teens, this includes drawing supplies, painting supplies, model kits, playing cards, word searches, and nail polish.
All new, unwrapped, non-violent toy donations can be dropped off at Springfield Rural King, located at 1476 Upper Valley Pike in Springfield. or three locations Bellefontaine – Dave Carothers Custom Auto Sales, 1318 OH-540; Family Farm and Home, 1710 S. Main St.; and Walmart, 2281 State Route 68.

Wittenberg University will hold its annual Candlelight Chapel Service with Lessons and Carols for Advent and Christmas tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Weaver Chapel.
The event, part of the 2023-2024 Wittenberg Series, is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 6:45 p.m. Preservice music by the Wittenberg Chamber Orchestra and Brass Quintet begins at 7 p.m., after which the event begins. As in previous years, the service ends with candlelight and the singing of “Silent Night.”

Urbana Library Events
The Champaign County Library (1060 Scioto St.) will be hosting several upcoming activities.
Drop-in holiday crafts will be held for children of all ages on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the main library and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Lewisburg branch.
The Fiber Arts Group will be held on Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon in the main library building. Knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross stitch, and other fiber art projects are welcome. All skill levels are welcome. You can bring your own project to work on, or we’ll provide basic supplies to get you started.
Kids Holiday Fun, including activities, crafts, and treats, will be held at the Library on Monday from 1 p.m.
Family Holiday Story Time is for children of all ages and will be held at the Book Library on Mondays at 6 p.m. Registration required.

The Holiday Craft and Vendors Bazaar will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Jerusalem Second Baptist Church, 1036 S. High St. in Urbana.
There will be handcrafted, homemade and homemade baked goods, as well as treasures created by local talent.
Participants can also drop off their winter hats and gloves at the annual winter hat and glove drive for area children.
This event is sponsored by Keeping The Faith Ministries.
Animal Welfare Federation Open House
The Clark County Animal Welfare League will hold an open house Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the farm located at 6330 Willowdale Road.
Pet wishes include canned dog food, dog treats, Friskies patties, and treats. The farm’s wishes are laundry detergent and volunteers. Enjoy hot chocolate and cookies.
The Champaign County Animal Welfare League will hold a holiday open house Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at 3858 State Route 56 in Mechanicsburg.
The event will include meeting with staff, touring the campus, spending time with available residents, and the indoor dog park will be open to four-legged family members. Light snacks and snacks will also be available.
Clifton Opera House Shows
The Clifton Opera House, located at 5 Clay Street, will host performances this weekend.
Rafferty Pike will play bluegrass Saturday at 2 p.m. A Lit Litti food truck will appear before the show. Price suggested $10 donation.
Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers will play bluegrass at 4 p.m. The cost is $20.
Proceeds from both shows help maintain the Opera House and other village properties.
holmes tour
The WASSO annual villa tour will be held Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
This year’s tour features five beautifully decorated historic homes. They include the Kelly House on West National Road, the Housemans on Leander Drive, the Fett House on South Fountain Avenue, the Larsons House on Myers Road, and the Espic House on West Harding Road.
All proceeds from the tour will be donated to the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Tickets are available for $15 at http://www.springfieldsym.org, Firefly Boutique, Schneider’s Florist, Katie’s Hallmark, and the Springfield Symphony Office. During the tour, tickets can be purchased for $20 at the tour home.
West Liberty House Tour
The West Liberty Business Association’s Christmas Tour of Home will be held at the West Liberty Opera House on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.
There are several houses in the village and school district, as well as an opera house filled with music and a newly renovated People’s Savings and Loan.
The Town Trolley runs between locations throughout the city, allowing for late-night shopping.

Christmas pageant, celebration
Covenant Presbyterian Church will hold its annual children’s Christmas pageant at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday, with guest vocalists Kenton Ridge High School at 201 North Limestone Street Sunday at 5 p.m.・Hold a Carol and Lights Celebration by the Chamber Singers.

The Champaign Family YMCA’s annual “Investing in Youth” silent auction will run virtually until 6 p.m. Sunday.
