No.8 Oregon go to number 7 Washington This weekend features a highly anticipated West Coast showdown that could determine the early leader in the Pac-12 title race.oregon state coach Dan Lanning He knows it will be a noisy environment and his team will need to focus and prepare for it.
He jumped on ESPN’s College GameDay Saturday morning to discuss the matchup.
“It’s going to be fun,” Lanning said. “We like hostile environments, but in this environment it’s important to get in the middle of the storm, find calm in the chaos, and go out and do your job.”
Lanning emphasized the need to remain calm even when the game fluctuates. There could be several players on both sides with strong offensive ability.
meanwhile bo nicks Just as he captained Oregon to a perfect 5-0 start, so does Washington’s gunslinger. michael penix jr.. Penix is one of the most prolific passers in the country, and he has already thrown for 1,999 yards and 16 touchdowns, but has only been picked off twice.
But it’s the Knicks who have to answer to the crowd.
To that end, Lanning and his team did everything they could to prepare for the ferocity of the crowd.
“Every day in practice, we just play the crowd noise as loud as we can,” Lanning said.
When it comes to managing emotions once the game starts, Lanning acknowledged that everyone on the team needs to stay focused to avoid letting emotions fuel them and making stupid mistakes.
This is something he’s been preaching to his team for a while, but essentially his advice boils down to being able to reset quickly when adversity hits.
“We have to hit the reset button,” Dan Lanning said. “You have to hit the reset button and you have to focus on the present moment. In each moment, the most important play is the next play. When you play for your brother, that’s what you do. And it’s a sacrifice. You sacrifice your temperament to play at a high level.”
Oregon and Washington State are scheduled to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET, with national broadcast on ABC.
