As with all major Android and One UI updates, One UI 6.0 includes many exciting features and changes, as well as features and changes that most users either didn’t notice or asked for. Also includes some. One change you might have missed, buried in the full One UI 6.0 changelog, is the way Samsung is shortening the names of some apps.
How does the company do it? This isn’t rocket science. Samsung is simply removing the Samsung part from the names of some apps. Samsung Music is now just Music, Samsung Members is now Members, Samsung Wallet is now Wallet, Samsung Health is now Health, Samsung Notes is now Notes, and Samsung TV Plus is just TV. Well, you get the point.

You can use search to find apps that no longer have Samsung in their name
Samsung doesn’t do this for all apps. Also, the shorter name does not make any difference in everyday usage. It can be harder to scroll through the app drawer to find apps, and the process can be longer because the apps won’t be listed next to each other because their names no longer start with Samsung. However, you can avoid these issues by searching for the word “Samsung” in the app drawer search bar and the results will show all Samsung apps, short name or not.
Samsung has made changes to some apps in the Android 14/One UI 6.0 beta software available for Galaxy devices, while other apps get updates that are renamed in the Galaxy Store/Play Store. Some apps, such as Samsung Music, are already receiving such updates, and more are expected to arrive in the near future.
