OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department has something for everyone this weekend.
According to the city of OKC, multiple events will be held this Friday and Saturday, October 13th and 14th.
Friday, October 13th
The Willa D. Johnson Community Center, 909 Fredrick Douglas Ave., will hold an eight-week “Total Wellness” class from 1:30 p.m., officials said. Free classes teach healthy living tips, balanced eating, and physical activity.
We also offer free health checkups. This class will be held every Friday through his November 10th, and there’s still time to register and participate. To register, visit okc.gov/parks.
Saturday, October 14th
According to the city, Martin Park Nature Center has: “Exchange of native species” 10 a.m. inside the Visitor Center Library, 5000 W. Memorial Road. This event gives fellow gardeners the opportunity to exchange seeds and plant native grasses, shrubs, and wildflowers that thrive in Oklahoma’s climate. The event is free and registration closes on October 14th.
Also, Open house hosted by HB Parsons Farm 10 a.m. at 10940 N. Meridian Ave. This event will give guests a behind-the-scenes look at how OKC’s fisheries are managed. This free event is open to all ages and registration closes on October 14th.
NW Optimist Recreation Center is hosting a haunted house Saturday, starting at 6:30 p.m. at 3301 NW Grand Blvd. Admission is $3 at the door, but guests are encouraged to wear vintage clothing as they may “get in the Halloween spirit.”
