Las Vegas – ethan oakley, Will Miller and Noah Luna All had ranked wins at the prestigious Cliff Keene Las Vegas Invitational, and Oakley’s eighth-place finish sealed App State’s appearance in the toughest non-NCAA Championship event on the 2023-24 calendar. I made it stand.
Oakley won his opener at 133 pounds with a 4-1 record, and in Friday’s match he defeated No. 12 Brendan Ferretti (Navy) by a 9-7 decision, a two-time NCAA qualifier from Oklahoma State University. Miller entered the final 12 with a 3-1 record at 165 pounds, but dropped a 2-1 decision over No. 21 standout Brevin Casella of Binghamton, giving him a tie-breaking point with a riding time of 1:01. obtained. He broke away 59 seconds into the second period and held onto the lead throughout the third period, despite being penalized for a technical violation in the closing minutes of the 1-0 game.

Between losing to No. 2 Matt Ramos of Purdue in the opener and losing 9-6 to No. 20 Spencer Moore of North Carolina, Luna had two takes on No. 23 Ventresca in the second period. He got a knockdown and controlled one of them. He has 3 seconds left in that period.
All nine App State wrestlers in Las Vegas won at least one match. Ike Byers (141 pounds), carson floyd (197) and Jacob Sartorio (The heavyweight division) was all 1-2. Sartorio lost 4-2 to No. 30 David Zuba of Rider in the second race, lost 2-0 to No. 16 Luis Fernandez of Cornell, and won 8-1. Byers and Floyd’s two losses each came against ranked opponents.
The 2023-24 season will be hosted by Hungry Howies and Penn Station.
